“Lord, give us your eyes so we can see”

“We walk by faith, not by sight.”

As many of you know, Siham has an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosis. She currently has no peripheral or night vision, she has what is called tunnel vision with increasing blurryness.

This link has great info, studies and an interview with Robin from Good Morning America. Jennifer Rothschild lost her sight at 15 from RP and has flourished in her faith and walk with God. http://www.jenniferrothschild.com/
Jennifer has a cool study called walking by faith, not by sight.

It is written… “Did I not tell you, that you would see the glory of God…”

…”We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only.”

You will be my witnesses…to the ends of the earth

“Lord, teach us to number our Days.”

“I tell you, Now is the time of God’s favor, Now is the day of salvation.”

God willing, we will board a plane on Feb. 27 and arrive in Accra, Ghana the evening of Feb 28.

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see”

In our two and a half year pre-field journey we’ve had the privilege of watching twenty people place first time faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. We also saw many recommit their lives to God, and many others take new steps of submission and move towards full surrender. God has guided and stretched us: provided for us, broken us, comforted us and taught us to follow Him and trust Him. We have found that our journey to “the field” is not about getting to “a certain place”, but rather being with Him wherever we are, learning to “live by faith, not by sight”, serving Him in the “now”.

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” In the past few weeks, ten new partners and two Church’s have joined this work and God has also provided over $10,000.00 through special gifts. We have been greatly humbled and encouraged by your love, support and prayers. “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him… so we will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:2-3

“We fix our eyes not on what is seen but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18

Thank you for supporting and praying for us in this journey.
Our greatest need is to have you praying for us and for those we serve.
Please pray for our witness and effectiveness in serving our Lord, our family and for Siham’s eyesight.

In Him,
gary & siham

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place,,,,,,obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith… He was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.” Hebrews 11:8-10

As for God, His way is perfect Psalm 18:10

Dear Friends,

Wow 2008! We saw God at work: In new decisions, rededications, commitments and discipleship; from the kitchen table to church, from the jobsite to community groups and from a motorcycle to many “random” connections. We saw blessing and heartbreak, rejoicing and morning, transformation and loss, comfort, healing, new hope, forgiveness and reconciliation. We watched God at work in lives around us.

We are now serving with Agape Gospel Mission in Ghana, West Africa. We will be departing in mid February 2009. AGM has been in West Africa since 1983 and God has planted over 150 churches in 7 nations as a result of this wonderful work. There are 3 Bible colleges in operation and 67 AGM bible schools. One of the primary methods of outreach in the community is life on life, relational evangelism. God has grown this ministry, through the pioneering work of Rick & Donna Whitcomb, who also oversee the AGM children’s home orphanage. There are currently 90 adopted children at the home, all of whom are biological orphans. They have lost both parents and have no relatives to help. There are thousands of children like these in Ghana. As we join in this work, one of the things we will help with is the construction of the Agape Children’s Home Academy, K through 12th grade school. Please ask God how He may lead you to partner in this work, which we believe is His work.

Evangelizing the lost…Embracing the poor…Empowering the church

God has provided approx 50% of the monthly support needed to sustain us over time. Between the funds in our ministry account and our monthly partner’s contributions, we believe that God is providing for this next season in Ghana. We are convinced that God would have us to serve with the resources He has currently provided, and we are to trust Him with future needs, so “we go”.

Please pray for us:
• That we will serve in humility, with His love and His heart. Mathew 4:19
• Protection and loving relationships for our family when we are away. Acts 16:31
• That God would empower us for His service. John 15:16
• That all whom God has chosen, would come to Him, and grow in good soil.
Not just decisions in Ghana, but disciples. Mathew 28:19

Thank you for your continued faithfulness to God and your partnership with us.
We are grateful to God and to you for the privilege of serving with you, sent into the world through your sacrifice and commitment to Christ. Acts 13:2-3

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27

Come, follow me…

Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
Mathew 4:19

We follow ———and——– He makes us!

As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Mathew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” He told him, and Mathew got up and followed Him.

Mathew 9:9 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you still lack,” He said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Mark 10:21 Then He said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23

Is it possible to believe and not be a Christian, a Christ follower? We have been “believers” for a few years: we believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. We believe that God created…..everything and everyone.

We believe the gospel; “that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all He appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

We have known the facts about Jesus and believed them, it seems that we are just now learning the basic, simple, deep truth and calling, “Follow Me, and I will make you…” “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, ‘you have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder.” “You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.” James 2:17-19, 22As we are learning how to follow Him, we are learning to “Go” with Him where and when He leads.

We recently spent some time serving with the Bayou Talla Fellowship church in Kiln Mississippi. We went for a couple of weeks, But God allowed us to stay for 7 weeks. We are currently preparing to temporarily move to Kiln and work with our forever family at Bayou Talla. This is a beautiful, kingdom focused, growing community of believers. God has lead us to “go”, we do not know how long we will serve there or How God will lead us next. It could be anywhere from 4 to 6 months.

We are praying that individuals and/or teams of people would be led by God to help with the work. Please let us know if you are interested in coming down to join in with what God is doing at Bayou Talla. “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” Our Daughter Theresa is due to deliver our grandson Caleb on or about June 14.

We will leave for MS shortly after his birth. We are continuing to move towards Togo, West Africa and we believe that partnering at Bayou Talla is part of His perfect plan. We recently sent out our first official ministry and support raising letter. Please pray with us for God’s provision in following and serving Him. “Again Jesus said, ‘peace be with you! as the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’”

Bringing help through buildings, building hope with God’s love.

Dear Friends,

It is an honor to write to you today, as we continue on our journey of becoming fully devoted followers of Christ. God is teaching us to live by faith, surrendered and submitted to Him. Since our last newsletter, much has taken place – mostly we have continued to be molded and changed by God, which is our greatest need, joy and privilege.

We began this journey into missions two years ago and we have seen God work in amazing ways (everything God does and has ever done is amazing). We have witnessed God save and transform sixteen of our friends and family and have had the (amazing) privilege to partner in discipleship with many of them! Our second grandchild was born, our second daughter was married and our third and fourth grandchildren are on the way. One of our sons is in the Navy serving in Japan and our eight year old granddaughter knows Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was “Student of the Year.” We have experienced God’s (amazing) love, leading and provision!

We have also experienced spiritual warfare, intimidation and opposition. However, through every circumstance we have experienced God’s (amazing) peace and comfort like never before. “But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on…” In January of 2006 we took a survey trip to Togo, West Africa.

While we were there God confirmed our call to missions and changed the direction of our careers. In July of 2006 we were appointed as ABWE missionaries (tour guides for God!) and NorthRidge Church then confirmed God’s calling as our sending church. In November of 2007 God sold “His” house along with many furnishings and moved us to a rented house in Westland, MI. In addition, we have experienced more serving opportunities with trips to South Africa, Montreal, Mississippi and New Zeeland “Whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.” Philippians 3:7

Our current plan is to serve in the field for approximately 6 months to 1 year interspersed with return trips home that last about a month each. While in Togo, we will be serving within a global team of missionaries including doctors, nurses, educators, pastors, linguists, agriculturists, business people, tradesmen & women, all people who have experienced God’s amazing love.

As you can see, there are many areas of means and vocations that God can use to reach into this hurting world. It is an essential part of our global strategy to be the catalyst connecting people into loving, biblical communities and to facilitate church planting movements. Led by the local believers, the Body of Christ is established and growing throughout the world — working toward the goal that every nation would be a “sending nation” (missionary sending nation).

We are part of this faith based mission, and God is building our prayer and support team.

“Do you not say, ‘Four more months and then the harvest’?
I tell you, open your eyes and look to the fields!
They are ripe for harvest.” John 4:35

As we move into this next phase of our pre-field journey into global outreach, we ask you to partner with us. Since prayer is essential for all effective ministry, our greatest need is to have you praying for us. We also need committed monthly and yearly financial supporters. We believe that God will provide our needed support primarily through our friends and family — from those who know us, love us and trust us.

Our monthly support requirement needed when we are actively on the mission field will be $4,841.00. These funds will be used for housing, health insurance, social security, ministry expenses, outreach/evangelism, travel expenses, etc. This financial support seems daunting, but we are firm in our faith that where God guides, He provides. (As we continue to move more into full time pre-field ministry we will begin to draw some monthly support as needed, before departure to “the field”)

In his love, Gary & Siham Jasmund
